How to Plant a Garden - And Profit From It! by
Karen Connell
If you have decided to plant a garden, you will first need to decide where
you want to start. Begin by choosing an area that will be easy to work.
Then improve the soil by adding fertilizer. Next you will need to decide
what you want to plant - vegetables, shrubs, flowers, trees etc.
For the purpose of this short article, we will assume that you want to end
up with a colorful display of flowers. If you want to use seeds, you can
simply sprinkle them on top of your soil (using the pack as a guide as to
the correct time of year to do this) then cover them by lightly raking
over. Water well, as often as is needed, and watch those babies grow!
If they begin to grow too closely packed you can gently dig up some of the
young seedlings and move them to another area.
However, if you are into instant gardening, you could pay a visit to your
local nursery and choose some young plants for your patch. Ask the
nurseryman (or woman) about suitable flowers to plant outside for your
climate. By seeking the advice of the professionals, you could save
yourself a lot of time, money and disappointment.
Once you have got your plants home it is time to transplant them into your
patch. Begin by placing the pots on top of the soil in the way that you
think will give the best display. They will be much easier to move around
if you leave them in the pots until you have made a final decision on the
design of your new flower bed. Now get planting!
If you end with surplus plants - which you will, you can sell these and
maybe buy some new gardening equipment. How good is that?
